crikey o'reilly 2010

i never fail to be completely enchanted when i catch the smell of old perfume on a garment that i haven't worn for a while; the smallest thing for which i have such an immense adoration. the evening of new years eve 2009 began with this exact adoration. following such a romantic thought, one bottle of 'vodkat' later, two urinations in-between train carriages and an uncertain entrance to camden towns very own koko the rest is for me to know & you not to find out.
so far this year my most considerable addiction has been to brit pop legends blur; in particular the best of album and the videos which accompany such lyrical genius. born in the later part of 1990 i may have grown alongside the development of an iconic british movement but feel for the most part i missed the point of its existence due to my age. now, what is technically two decades later, it appears in a whole new light; finally proud to admit i was at the forefront of such a bold decade. took long enough. take damon albarn for instance- at the time another grimy underdressed older man i would gladly ignore over the delights of britney spears- & yet today i obtain his timeless words of social antics and have nothing but appreciation for his provocative frontman behavior. amazing how a few years of teenage experience can create a whole new dimension of meaning to lyrics and actions. Beetlebum
What you've done
She's a gun
Now what you've done
Beetlebum
Get nothing done
You beetlebum just get numb
Now what you've done
Beetlebum

And when she lets me slip away
She turns me on all my violence is gone
Nothing is wrong
I just slip away and I am gone
Nothing is wrong
She turns me on
I just slip away and I am gone

Beetlebum
Because you're young
She's a gun
Now what you've done
Beetlebum
She'll suck your thumb
She'll make you come
Coz, she's your gun
Now what you've done
Beetlebum

And when she lets me slip away
She turns me on all my violence is gone
Nothing is wrong
She turns me on
I just slip away and I'm gone

beetlebum being one of the standout tracks & its simple yet satirical video encapsulate the bands cleverly devised impertinence. an impertinence marketed in a way which cannot offend those who choose not to look to closely. whilst its words with sexual connotation and albarn's one man floor romp midway through the video left to appeal to their more eager fans.& as for alex james an undying crush, so wrong yet so right at the same time.
hello & welcome 2010.here's to a year of understanding?
